Maine Media Camp at Husson University

by Laylah Denton

Over the summer I went to Maine Media Camp at Husson University. It’s a summer camp where high school students get to stay on the Husson campus in the dorms for six days and experience working with many different types of communications. We also got to experience a little of what life at Husson University would be like. We spoke with music producers and got to see a professional music production studio. We learned the basics of graphic design using Photoshop. We got to use cameras to record a live band performance while others worked with sound boards and microphones. I got to talk to professors and students about NESCom, about what it was like, the opportunities I would get, the classes I would take, and life on campus. I think it was a great experience, and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in communications.

Hurricane Lee

by Laylah Denton

Upcoming: Hurricane Lee in the Northeast is headed between Maine and Canada by Saturday the 16th, and although a Canadian landfall is likely, Maine will feel its effects. Hurricane Lee started as a category 3 but may be a post-tropical storm by the time it passes our area. It has already caused the cancellation of community events like Thorndike Day. Thorndike Day has been rescheduled to October 14th. On the 14th, I will be at Thorndike Day recording and conducting interviews for Voicing the View and MVTV News. Make sure to stay safe this weekend!
