A Review on The Exorcist: Believer

by Selena Robbins

I thought this film was really good. It had its own storyline, which was basic but good, and it wasn’t overdone; the makeup was truly devilish and made the girls look amazing; Katherine looked a lot like Reagan from the original, the performance from all the actors was perfect, and Bringing back Ellen Burstyn and Linda Blair gave the ending a perfect and very emotional touch. The CGI was finally used in the correct way and wasn’t overused like in most horror films. I personally think David Green and Jason Blum did a very impressive job with this reboot of the 1973 classic. They used their own ideas but incorporated some of the DNA from the original. I can’t wait to see what both directors have installed for us next.

Book Review- The Taken

by Lexi Cluney

The Taken

I’ve recently read a book called The Taken by Inger Ash Wolfe for a book report. It’s about a detective who was forced to move into her ex-husband’s basement after a major back surgery. She is humiliated by his new wife as she brings her meals down on a tray but eventually gets a call about a body that was fished up and starts to investigate it. She knows someone is trying to get in the way, but she doesn’t stop investigating to get to the bottom of what happened. Overall, I really liked this book because it’s a big mystery and leaves you wondering and wanting to read more.

Netflix Show Review- The Night Agent

by Brooklynn Brown

This year, 2023, a new, interesting, and action-packed show was released on Netflix. The show is called The Night Agent, and so far, it has a span of 10 episodes with each episode lasting 45-55 minutes. This show starts off with Rose Larkin, (Luciane Buchanan) a girl who lives with her Aunt and Uncle. However, disaster strikes and a strange occurrence causes their demise. Right before their death, they give the girl a phone number to call, as well as 4 code words. When Rose calls the number she was given, she reaches the phone number of a mysterious man; he sits in the basement in complete isolation, awaiting a call from a phone that never rings. This man is Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso.)

He protects and watches over Rose from the sidelines, despite being shot at and followed everywhere he goes. The person that Rose and Peter thought they could trust in the White House turns out to be the one person behind all of their troubles; but even if it comes down to the President being bombed, Peter will do anything to protect this girl.

I really enjoyed this show. It moved quite fast, but it was still easy to follow nonetheless, and there was almost never a dull moment throughout the runtimes of each episode. Every episode was full of action that kept me captivated and excited for more. Overall, if you are a fan of action, thriller, and drama, I recommend watching this series.
