On May 5th every year Cinco De Mayo is celebrated. Cinco De Mayo is celebrated to honor the Mexican Army when they took a victory against France. The Mexican Army won the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. The Franco-Mexican War started because of the long-term debt that the Mexicans owed to the French.  The other reason for the cause of Franco-Mexican War was due to French citizens, living in Mexico, who had their businesses destroyed. In the Battle of Puebla, the French made their way toward the capital but were stopped in the city of Puebla. The Mexicans defended their place, where they later took victory at Puebla when the French surrendered themselves. Cinco De Mayo is celebrated each year to honor the Mexican’s determination during this battle.
